Gov. Sani Bello renovates Suleja General Hospital after 59 years, promises enhanced healthcare future

Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger State received an overwhelming reception as the state government unveiled the expanded and remodeled Suleja General Hospital.

The announcement was made through a press release by Mary Noel-Berje, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Niger State.

For nearly 59 years, the hospital had suffered from neglect and dilapidation. However, it has now been revitalized and boasts a brand-new appearance.

During the commissioning ceremony, Governor Sani Bello emphasized the urgent need for the hospital’s expansion and complete rebuilding in order to cater to the healthcare needs of the people of Suleja and the wider Nigerian population.

He remarked, “Considering that this hospital was constructed 59 years ago, it was imperative that we expand and rebuild it to better serve the citizens of Suleja and other parts of our country.”

Governor Sani Bello further highlighted that the government’s efforts were aimed at enhancing the working conditions for medical professionals.

He expressed hope that the subsequent administration would continue the progress achieved, stating, “If this initiative is sustained, we can anticipate having high-quality, standard hospitals throughout Niger State in the coming years.”

The governor commended the doctors and healthcare staff for their unwavering dedication, acknowledging the challenges they faced due to overwhelming workloads.

Prior to the commissioning, Dr. Muhammad Muhammad Makusidi, the Commissioner for Health, revealed that the Suleja General Hospital, which is 59 years old, had never undergone any renovation.

He emphasized that the remodeled facility now features modern equipment and provides a conducive working environment for medical professionals, ensuring the delivery of qualitative, affordable, and accessible healthcare services.
