Governor Buni strengthens Yobe micro finance bank with public works beneficiaries

His Excellency the Executive Governor of Yobe State, Honourable Mai Mala Buni has contacted the Minister for labour and productivity Honourable Festus Keyamo and requested that the Special Public Works Programme fund which is targeted at 17,000 beneficiaries in Yobe State should be domiciled in Yobe Microfinance Bank as the only states Bank.

The Governor further directed the State Chairman for the Special Public Works Programme, Honourable Goni Bukar (Bugon) and the State Commissioner of Finance, Honourable Musa Mustapha to ensure that adequate mechanisms are put in place for the disbursement of N2000 to 17,000 beneficiaries across the State. This is in addition to the already ongoing Survival Fund Programme in the State.

Special Public Works Programme is an N50 billion naira project allocated in the 2020 budget. It is aimed at employing 774,000 citizens, a thousand from each of the 774 local government areas in the country.

With this Development, Yobe Microfinance Bank is expected to disburse Survival Fund to 35,000 beneficiaries and Special Works Programme Fund to 17,000 beneficiaries totalling to 52,000 to receive about 1.4 billion Naira.
