Grand Merit Awards: Kogi Gov’t signs MoU with Nigerian Media Merit Award

Kogi State Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Nigerian Media Merit Award (NMMA) to host the twenty-ninth edition of the Grand Merit Awards.

Secretary to the State Government, Mrs Folashade Ayoade while signing the MOU on behalf of Governor Yahaya Bello commended the organisation for recognizing Kogi State as a suitable place for hosting the event.

Governor Bello described the development as timely, noting that the present administration will provide the necessary support to ensure the success of the event.

Chief Administrator of the Nigeria Media Merit Award, Mr Yemi Akeji noted that the essence of the event was to accelerate media standards not only in Nigeria but across Africa.

Mr Akeji emphasized that the vision of NMMA was to partner with the government at all levels to showcase their activities and commend Governor Yahaya Bello for deeming it fit to host the event in the state.

He noted that the journey of Nigeria started from Kogi State and appealed to the government, Stakeholders as well as public-spirited individuals to contribute their quota in making Nigeria great.

The State Coordinator, Nigeria Media Merit Award, Doctor Ronke Bello described the event as a business opportunity that will improve the economic status of the State and boost internally generated revenue.

State Security Adviser, Retired Commander Jerry Omodara in a remark assured of adequate security measures to forestall any form of rancour while the event last.

The event which is scheduled to hold from the twenty-eight to the thirty-first of October this year has the theme “Engaging Kogi State Today for Tomorrow.”
