Gunmen abduct woman, steal over ₦8 million in Kano attack

Gunmen, believed to be kidnappers, raided Garo town in the Kabo Local Government Area of Kano State in the early hours of Sunday, abducting a young woman, Zainab, after collecting ₦8 million from her family.

According to a reliable source, around 1:20 a.m., approximately 10 attackers stormed the home of a prominent businessman, Alhaji Auwal, in Garo Sabuwar Unguwa. Three of the assailants were armed with guns, while the others carried various weapons.

The attackers broke into the house through a small door and gathered the entire family in one place, creating a tense and fearful atmosphere. The head of the family reportedly pleaded with the gunmen to spare his loved ones, offering them money in exchange for their safety. The kidnappers demanded and received ₦8 million.

Despite the payment, the assailants proceeded to abduct the family’s eldest daughter, a secondary school graduate, before fleeing the scene. As of now, her whereabouts remain unknown, and the kidnappers have yet to make contact with the family.

The community is shaken by the incident, with residents urging authorities to take action to combat the rising insecurity in the area.

Journalists reached out to the Kano Police Command, and SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa confirmed the incident, stating that an investigation has been launched to track down the perpetrators.
