Suspected gunmen, believed to be bandits, attacked Jumai Kefas, the mother of Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, and his sister, Atsi Kefas, on Thursday along Kente Road in Wukari Local Government Area.

The Chairman of Wukari Council, Dauda Samaila Agbu, confirmed the attack, describing it as “deeply troubling.” He revealed that Atsi Kefas sustained a gunshot wound during the incident and was initially treated at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Wukari, before being airlifted to Abuja for advanced medical care.

The Taraba Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Usman Abdullahi, also confirmed the attack, describing it as an armed robbery incident. While he could not verify the victims’ relationship to the governor, Abdullahi noted that one of the vehicle’s occupants sustained injuries during the attack.
