Gunmen kidnap DPO in Nasarawa State

The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Nasarawa-Eggon local government, CSP Haruna Abdulmalik, has been kidnapped.
The Chairman of the local government, Alhaji Danladi Idris Odasko, who confirmed the incident said: “The police officer was kidnapped at about 9 pm on Wednesday in Bakono road. Since the incident, his GSM handsets have been switched off.
“Witnesses said he was abducted at gunpoint and whisked to an unknown destination”, he added.

It was gathered that the DPO was abducted when he went on patrol on the Nasarawa Eggon – Akwanga Road.
As of the time of filing this report, the kidnappers have contacted his family demanding the sum of N5 million ransom.
The Chairman, Danladi Idris Odasko, said they are making efforts to free the DPO from the armed kidnappers.
The police command when contacted by our correspondent in the state didn’t respond to the incident.
