Gunmen kill man, abduct wife, cousin in Abuja

Gunmen, suspected to be kidnappers have killed a man and abducted his family members at Ushafa community of Bwari Area Council, Abuja.

One of the eyewitnesses identified as Ade Ademola who spoke to newsmen said the gunmen abducted the wife and cousin of the deceased after killing the man.

The deceased was said to have struggled with the gunmen and was killed in the process.

He said that the incident happened in the early hours of Wednesday at about 1am behind LGEA Primary School, Ushafa.

The gunmen were said to have invaded the area, shooting for over 30 minutes unchallenged.

Confirming the news, the police public relations officer of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), police command, DSP Josephine Adeh, said the police officers were mobilized to the scene but the kidnappers ran away.

She said: “On January 11, 2023, at about 06:00am the control room received a distress call that armed hoodlums stormed Ushafa Village via the Bwari area council of the Territory.

“The information was relayed to the Bwari divisional police headquarters, and the tactical and intelligence assets of the command around the area were mobilised to the scene.

“Upon sighting the officers the hoodlums took to their heels having shot one Benjamin Ogundare and abducted the duo of Goodluck Ogundare and Janet Ogundare.

“The victim was rushed to the hospital where he was confirmed dead by a doctor on call.

“Aggressive man hunt and rescue mission has been launched on the tails of the hoodlums while the investigation continues.”
