Halima Shehu says N17billion transferred to private account aims to prevent embezzlement by Betta Edu

Halima Shehu, the dismissed CEO of the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA), has revealed that she transferred 17 billion Naira to her private account as a strategic move to prevent further embezzlement by Dr. Betta Edu, the Honourable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management.

Shehu alleges that Minister Edu had already misused a substantial 3 billion Naira within a remarkably short period, prompting her to take action to safeguard the remaining funds.

The controversy escalated when reports surfaced that Shehu diverted the sum of 17 billion Naira into her private account without presidential authorisation, leading to her subsequent suspension by President Bola Tinubu.

While investigations are still ongoing, she made some fresh allegations implicating Minister Betta Edu in the misappropriation of an additional 3 billion Naira.

Halima Shehu faces scrutiny following her arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) where she will questioned to determine her financial accountability and transparency whole heading the government agency and the use of funds earmarked for social investment programmes in Nigeria.
