Hardship: Nigerians waiting to kick Tinubu out of Aso rock – Bode George
Chief Bode George, a former Deputy National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has declared that Nigerians are eagerly anticipating the opportunity to remove the All Progressives Congress (APC) government, led by President Bola Tinubu, from power come 2027.
Speaking at a news conference in Lagos to mark his 79th birthday, George urged PDP members and leaders to seize the forthcoming National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting as an opportunity to revitalise the party and address its internal challenges.
“As a loyal party man who has never abandoned the PDP since its inception, today offers me the chance to discuss the future of our great party,” George stated.
He added, “However, I must raise an alarm — our party is at the brink of a crisis that could severely impact our relevance in the 2027 elections if pressing issues are not addressed urgently.”
George, a life member of the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT), decried the growing internal discord within the party, blaming it on selfish interests and disloyalty among some members.
“Our founding fathers would be weeping in their graves to see the state of the PDP today. Some pretentious members are already working for the APC, betraying the very foundation of our party,” he lamented.
The PDP stalwart emphasised the need for unity, warning that the party’s chances of reclaiming the presidency in 2027 depend on internal cohesion.
“Disloyalty is a grave offence. We must stop chameleonic members from sabotaging the party’s efforts. If we don’t act decisively, the PDP risks becoming a shadow of its former self,” George warned.

George appealed to party leaders to prioritise equity, fairness, and justice in all decisions, insisting that without these principles, the PDP’s 2027 ambitions would be unattainable.
“With the current socio-economic hardships under the APC government, Nigerians are looking to us for rescue. However, we must resolve our differences and work as a united front,” he urged.
He specifically called on respected party elders, including former President Goodluck Jonathan, ex-Vice President Namadi Sambo, and other PDP leaders like Rabiu Kwankwaso and Jonah Jang, to actively participate in resolving the party’s issues.
On the political feud in Rivers State between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his predecessor, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, George urged Wike to “cool off immediately.”
He called on the PDP leadership to treat Governor Fubara with respect, warning that neglecting the situation could fragment the party further.
“The unity of our party is paramount. How we address these challenges will determine our fate in the coming years,” George said.
George concluded his address by emphasising the PDP’s responsibility to Nigerians.
“We can not afford to fail. The PDP remains the only true national party capable of leading Nigeria to a brighter future. But this will only happen if we rise above selfish interests and work for the collective good,” he declared.
The event was attended by notable figures, including Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the Labour Party’s 2023 gubernatorial candidate in Lagos State.
