Hisbah cancels Kano Tiktokers’ wedding, reopens court case
The Kano State Hisbah Board has cancelled the planned wedding between popular TikTokers Idris Mai Wushirya and Basira ‘Yar Guda, citing insincerity in their relationship and plans to reopen legal proceedings against them.
Deputy Commander of the Hisbah Board, Dr. Mujahedeen Aminuddeen, confirmed the development, explaining that investigations revealed the proposed marriage was a deceptive attempt to avoid legal consequences for the duo’s earlier actions.
“After our investigation, we discovered that the proposed marriage was not based on mutual understanding but an attempt to evade legal consequences. The board, therefore, resolved to cancel the wedding to prevent future conflict,” Dr. Aminuddeen said.
He added that although both parties had undergone blood tests to confirm medical compatibility, the Hisbah Board decided to halt the process to avoid further complications. The case, he said, would be returned to court if the matter remains unresolved.
Earlier, a Kano Magistrate Court, presided over by Magistrate Halima Wali, had suspended judgment in a case of alleged “immoral conduct” filed by the Kano State Censorship Board against the pair.
Following their open confession in court that they were in love and intended to marry, Magistrate Wali referred the matter to the Hisbah Board, giving it 60 days to formalise the marriage in line with Islamic traditions.
With the Hisbah Board’s latest decision, the planned wedding has been nullified, and the case is expected to return to court for further legal action.
