Hisbah in Jigawa arrests 47 people, shuts down 29 brothels

The Operatives of Hisbah have apprehended 47 miscreants and confiscated large cartons of alcohol in the cause of its operations in 17 major towns and villages of Jigawa State, the Commandant, Ustaz Ibrahim Dahiru Garki has stated.
“Our joint operation comprising of ourselves, the vigilante groups, some members of Army Operation Salama, and the Police, was in line with Governor Badaru’s directive to entrench moral discipline and cleanse our society from societal evils, and doors of immorality.

“The joint operation has taken us to Hadejia, Ringim, Dutse metropolitan, Taura, among other flashing points and joints of immorality, both within and outside our enclave, aimed to flush out rotten eggs within our midsts.”
Garki further said “during our raid in different places like Gujungu, we were able to arrest a large number of commercial sex workers, a large consignment of cartons of alcoholic drinks which all are prohibited under the tenets of Sharia, being that our state is a Sharia compliance state.
“In a similar raid in places like Chaichai town in Ringim LGA, we have successfully closed down a large number of brothel homes, confiscated large cartons of beer, where we handed all the confiscated items to Ringim DPO in transferring them to court for prosecution.
“Also at Kijawal town and Gujungu again we apprehended nine jerrycans of locally made beer popularly known as “Burukutu” owned by Kulawas alongside with their harlots. We all handed them to the police for further investigations and they will all be charged to court for prosecution if found guilty of the offence.
He lamented that at Wadugur town they apprehended a civil servant, a resident of the area who harbours commercial sex workers with some bottle of alcohol in his custody and they handed him without hesitation to the Ringim DPO for further investigations.
“In metropolitan Dutse, we were able to arrest many miscreants who are found of harbouring commercial sexual workers, narcotics, and wine which were all confiscated and handed to the police.
Garki called on parents to be vigilant in the upbringing of their pupils in ensuring a disciplined society, as we are all out to cleanse our society from immorality among our Youth’s for a decent society.
