How cooking gas explosion killed varsity students in Jigawa (Video)

The Student’s Union Government, Federal University Dutse has confirmed the death of two out of three students involved in a cooking gas explosion that happened on 29th September 2021 in an off-campus hostel opposite the university.

One out of the three victims, 23-year-old Ibrahim Abdullahi, was said to have died instantly after the cooking gas exploded.

 

The university’s Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Yahaya Bello, confirming the unfortunate incident, revealed that Abdullahi was a level 200 Direct Entry student of the Department of Soil Science, Faculty of Agriculture.

The Jigawa Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Lawan Shiisu Adam, also confirmed the incident, said the incident occurred at the students’ hostel outside the university along the third gate, Madobi Road, Dutse.

Shiisu said the students were set ablaze after the explosion of a cooking gas cylinder, adding that their properties were destroyed as well.

He explained that three students were involved in the incident, namely, Abdul A. Abdul, Musa Haruna and Ibrahim Abdullahi.

After the incident, the victims were immediately rushed to Rasheed Shekoni Teaching Hospital Dutse and later transferred to the Intensive Care Unit of ATBU Teaching Hospital, Bauchi State.
