How I escaped death, kidnap arranged by my inlaw – Man

ThankGod Adiegbuo, a middle-aged man from Umueze Village in Umunnachi, Dunukofia Local Government Area of Anambra State, narrowly escaped death after being lured into a kidnapper’s trap by a close friend, who is also his in-law.
Adiegbuo recounted his harrowing experience, revealing that he managed to evade his captors just minutes before they decided to kill him.
He said: “My very close friend, classmate and someone I’m married to his sister lured me to my abductors.”
Adiegbuo explained that the incident occurred recently in Abagana, Njikoka Local Government Area, after an unexpected encounter with a friend at a fuel station. The friend, whose name remains undisclosed, praised Adiegbuo’s appearance and subsequently began inviting him over repeatedly.

“Since then, he has been calling me on the phone, inviting me to come and see him. But I have not been having the chance to go,” Adiegbuo recalled.
Finally agreeing to visit, Adiegbuo said the friend directed him to a location near Abagana Girls Secondary School, claiming it was the site of a house he was constructing. Upon arrival, he met the friend and a woman who was introduced as the friend’s girlfriend. He was then invited to view the uncompleted building and a nearby herbalist’s compound.
Adiegbuo narrated how the situation quickly escalated. He described how two armed men suddenly appeared during a consultation session at the herbalist’s compound.
“They pointed a Pump Action gun and machete at me, commanding me to lie down and close my eyes or be killed,” he recounted.
The kidnappers tied him up, blindfolded him, gagged him, and robbed him of his belongings, including his car, wallet, phone, and ATM cards. They forced him to reveal his bank PINs and drained the accounts.
However, the captors were dissatisfied with the N150,000 in one of the accounts, leading to a heated discussion about killing him to sell his body parts. Adiegbuo overheard his friend urging the group to kill him to avoid exposure.
Fearing for his life, Adiegbuo turned to prayer, calling on divine intervention. Miraculously, he managed to free himself while the kidnappers were outside.
“At some point, while I was praying, strength from nowhere came over me, and I quietly slipped out my hands and legs and untied all that they used to bind me,” he explained.
He escaped through a window, jumped a fence, and fled into the bush before reaching the compound of Abagana Girls Secondary School. His sudden appearance alarmed the students, but he pleaded for their help.
When asked in the video if the police should be involved, Adiegbuo affirmed, noting that his car and other belongings remained with his abductors.
Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed that the command had not yet received any report on the incident.
