How little girl identified “trusted” neighbour as mastermind of brutal midnight attack
Residents of Kingdom Hall Road, off Ugberikoko Road in Sapele, Delta State, were thrown into panic in the early hours of Saturday when a gang of armed robbers unleashed terror on the neighbourhood.
The criminals, wielding dangerous weapons, raided multiple homes, dispossessing victims of their valuables.
However, in a dramatic twist, a young girl among the victims made a shocking revelation – one of the robbers was her own neighbour.
The attack, which left many residents traumatised, has reignited concerns about security and the trustworthiness of those living within communities.

According to eyewitnesses, the robbers stormed the area under the cover of darkness, breaking into homes and demanding cash, phones, and other valuables.
The victims, caught off guard, had no choice but to comply with the armed intruders.
The criminals operated swiftly and strategically, indicating that they had prior knowledge of the area. Armed with machetes, guns, and other weapons, they left a trail of destruction, forcing residents to cower in fear.
However, amid the chaos, a costly mistake led to a major breakthrough in the case. One of the robbers’ face coverings accidentally fell off, exposing his identity to a young girl.
To her horror, she immediately recognised him as Amos, popularly known as “Papa Testy” or “Testimony,” a man she had seen countless times in the neighbourhood. His facial features, voice, and mannerisms were unmistakable.
The moment of recognition sent shockwaves through the girl. But before she could react, Amos, realising he had been identified, attacked her in a bid to silence her. Wielding a machete, he inflicted deep cuts on her knees and ordered her to keep her eyes shut indefinitely.
Despite her injuries and the overwhelming fear, she survived and later provided crucial details about the attacker.
As dawn broke, the community was left shaken by the violent robbery. Residents expressed concerns over the rising cases of criminality and the ease with which criminals infiltrate communities.
The girl’s testimony, however, became a turning point in the case, leading to Amos’s eventual arrest. The suspect is currently in police custody, but he has refused to disclose the identities of his accomplices.
Security operatives are intensifying efforts to extract more information and apprehend the remaining gang members.
Meanwhile, residents have urged relevant authorities to strengthen security measures in Sapele and its environs to prevent future occurrences.
