The National President of the Alumni Association, International Institute of Islamic banking and finance, Bayero University, Kano – Nigeria, Mr Ahmad Suleiman Gimba, has today congratulated the President of Africa Development Bank Group, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina.
Dr Adesina, a reknowned economist, was elected for a second term in office, after his first term which ended after five years. He was sworn in on Tuesday, 1stSeptember, 2020 in Abidjan, Cote d’Voire.
Mr Gimba, a financialist, assured Mr. Adesina that the four strategic pillar policy; Institution, People, Delivery and Sustainability aimed to drive the ADBs five level goals are excellent and well thought of. He further noted that they would elaborate and deepen quality and impact of any project and, thus maintain financial substance throughout.
He also commended the AfDB in its approach on the needs of ordinary Africans who are committed to farming, entrepreneurship and animal husbandry, in this era of CoVid pandemic and subsequent lockdown across the world.
The Islamic banker, also made a call that countries should explore Islamic banking and finance products with the

effort of systemic approach to the world economic lockdown. He maintained that products such as Waqf and mudarabah are essential in this era of CoVid – 19.
Mr. Gimba also tasked the AfDB President to keep to his standards and usual magnanimous approach to issues, after full research and consultation. He also bid him success throughout his second tenure.
