The Provost of the Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation, Afaka, Kaduna State, Usman Muhammad has said that the institution will relocate temporarily due to the spate of insecurity in the state.
Muhammad announced this on Monday while addressing reporters during a conference, according to a report by Channels TV.
According to him, the institution would be relocated to a temporary place where normal academic activities would continue until further notice.
He explained that the decision became necessary because the present location of the college in the Igabi Local Government Area of the state was no longer safe for learning.
Muhammad gave an assurance that the management would provide vehicles for easy transportation of the students amid tight security.
He also announced that the school fees of the 37 students who were initially kidnapped by bandits had been waived for the courses they were pursuing at the college.
In March, bandits invaded the school and kidnapped 37 students, as a result of management had to suspend academic and non-academic activities.
The students were later released in three batches within one month after series of negotiations and payments of ransom – five were released on April 5, another five were released on April 8, and 29 on March 5.
