Inspector presumed dead found alive after hiding from bandits

The Zamfara State Police Command has announced that a police inspector, who was thought to have been killed in a recent bandit attack, has been found alive.
According to sources, AP/No 287155 Insp. Utanga Micheal was rescued after spending five days hiding in the bush. He had been reported missing after the August 8 incident in Adabka village, Bukkuyum Local Government Area, which resulted in the deaths of a Police Mobile Force officer and a Civilian Joint Task Force member.

A joint rescue team, including police officers, local vigilantes, and Adabka residents, found the officer on the outskirts of the village, where he had been evading the attackers.
Sources stated, “He was handed over to the village head, who took him to Adabka Primary Health Care Centre for initial treatment before arrangements were made to refer him to the Federal Medical Centre, Gusau.”

Efforts are reportedly still underway to recover missing firearms, including riot gunners, that were taken during the attack.
