The Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Polytechnics (SSANIP) yesterday issued a 14-day ultimatum to the Federal Polytechnic, Damaturu authorities over the demands of it’s members or shut down the university.
This was contained in a letter dated 4th December 2021 jointly signed by the branch Chairman, Muhammad Nura Nguru and branch Secretary, Adamu Adamu made available to newsmen in Damaturu.
The letter reads “The Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Polytechnics (SSANIP), the Federal Polytechnic Damaturu has today commenced 14-days warning strike from 4th January, 2021.”
“This is in line with the resolutions adopted at the 62nd regular meeting of the Union held monthly at the labour house, Abuja”.
According to them, the action was initiated to address their lingering demands with the Federal government.
Such demands they enumerated include the re-evaluation and implementation of assessment report, release of the scheme of service for the Polytechnic by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), non-payment of complete salaries and arrears of minimum wage.
Others are the lingering issues associated with the Integrated Personal Payroll Integrated System (IPPIS), the constitution of the Governing Councils in the Federal Polytechnics.
They indicated that at the expiration of the strike, the union shall find ways of reviewing the situation.
