Iran strikes U.S. military facilities in Bahrain, Kuwait, and Jordan

Iran has launched a series of missile and drone attacks targeting United States military facilities in Bahrain, Kuwait, and Jordan, marking a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict involving Iran, the United States, and Israel.

The attacks, which were claimed by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), came in response to recent U.S. military strikes on Iranian targets near the strategically important Strait of Hormuz. Tehran described the operation as a “proportionate response” to what it called American aggression against Iranian sovereignty.

According to Iranian state media, the operation targeted facilities associated with the U.S. Fifth Fleet in Bahrain, military installations in Kuwait, and an airbase in Jordan used by American forces. The attacks triggered heightened security measures across the Gulf region, with several countries activating air-defense systems and emergency response protocols.

Officials in Jordan reported that a number of incoming missiles and drones were intercepted before reaching their intended targets. Similar defensive measures were activated in Bahrain and Kuwait. Initial assessments indicated that most projectiles were neutralized, although authorities continued to evaluate the full extent of the attacks and any resulting damage.

The latest developments follow growing tensions in the region after Washington conducted strikes against Iranian military positions, citing security concerns related to an incident involving a U.S. military helicopter. Iranian authorities condemned the strikes and vowed retaliation, warning that any further military action against the country would be met with a decisive response.

Security analysts have warned that the exchange of attacks could further destabilize the Middle East and increase the risk of a wider regional confrontation. The Strait of Hormuz, through which a significant portion of the world’s oil supply passes, remains a focal point of concern for global markets and international policymakers.

Governments across the region have urged restraint, while diplomatic efforts are reportedly underway to prevent the crisis from escalating into a broader conflict. The United Nations and several world powers have called on all parties to prioritize dialogue and de-escalation.

As of the time of reporting, both Tehran and Washington have maintained heightened military readiness, and the situation remains fluid with the possibility of further developments in the coming hours.
