Iran’s Raeisi calls for end to Israeli ‘genocide’ in Gaza during Moscow trip

During a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow, Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi called for an “immediate” halt to the “genocide and crimes against humanity” being committed by Israel in the besieged Gaza Strip.

President Putin welcomed his Iranian counterpart in the Kremlin, where discussions revolved around the Israeli invasion and the expansion of relations between Tehran and Moscow.

“Gaza is a land where a child is martyred every ten minutes, so it is necessary to stop these bombings as soon as possible and find a quick and immediate solution,” President Raeisi stated, emphasizing that the events in Palestine constitute genocide and crimes against humanity.

He expressed disappointment in international organisations advocating human rights, stating that they have lost their effectiveness in addressing the support Gaza receives from the US and Western countries.

President Putin, hosting Raeisi after his visits to the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, discussed Gaza, Ukraine, and efforts by Russia and OPEC to boost oil prices.

The Iranian president highlighted the strong relations between the two countries, expressing optimism about further development. Discussions covered energy, agriculture, knowledge-based activities, and the potential signing of a free trade agreement between Iran and the Eurasian Economic Union.
Putin cited positive developments in transportation, energy, education, and economic cooperation, underlining the rapid development of relations between Iran and Russia.

President Raeisi, on an official invitation from President Putin, addressed bilateral issues, economic interactions, and regional and international matters during his one-day trip to Russia.
