Israel urges citizens to leave Egypt, Jordan

Israel has issued an urgent advisory to its citizens, urging them to leave Egypt and Jordan immediately, as tensions escalate in the region due to the conflict in Gaza.

The National Security Council of Israel made the announcement on Saturday, raising travel warnings for Egypt, including the Sinai Peninsula, and Jordan to level 4, indicating a high threat level.

The council recommends that its citizens avoid travelling to these countries and, if already there, should depart as soon as possible.

This notice comes shortly after Israel recalled its diplomats from Turkey as a security precaution, following a similar request for its citizens to leave that country.

The evacuation calls are a response to the ongoing protests throughout the Middle East, which have been triggered by Israel’s military actions in the Gaza Strip.

The conflict began when Hamas militants infiltrated Israel from the Gaza Strip, taking more than 200 hostages and resulting in the deaths of at least 1,400 people, primarily civilians. According to Israeli officials, these individuals were either shot, mutilated, or burnt to death.

In response, Israel has committed to dismantling Hamas, launching a bombing campaign that has devastated entire city blocks in Gaza, leading to the reported deaths of 4,137 Palestinians, the majority of whom are civilians, according to the Hamas-run health ministry.
