Job Description:
We are looking for a dynamic Sub Editor to join our team, specializing in the English division. The Sub Editor will be responsible for editing news and content sourced from the internet and offline sources. This role plays a crucial part in maintaining the high editorial standards of Neptune Prime.
Key Responsibilities:
- Content Editing: Review, edit, and proofread news articles, features, and content from various sources, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and adherence to editorial standards.
- Quality Control: Verify the credibility of sources and facts presented in news stories and content.
- Grammar and Style: Ensure all content published on Neptune Prime maintains impeccable grammar, punctuation, and adheres to the publication’s style guidelines.
- News Selection: Collaborate with the editorial team to identify relevant and noteworthy news stories and content for publication.
- Headlines and Summaries: Craft engaging headlines and concise summaries to capture readers’ attention and provide clear context.
- Audience Engagement: Monitor audience feedback and adapt editing practices to improve content quality and relevance.
- Content Enhancement: Work closely with writers to enhance the overall quality of articles, ensuring they align with NEPTUNE’s mission and audience preferences.
- Fact-Checking: Perform fact-checking to ensure the accuracy and credibility of information presented in articles.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in editing within a digital newsroom or media organization.
- Exceptional command of the English language, including grammar, punctuation, and style.
- Familiarity with online and offline news sources and content curation.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment.
- Proficiency in using content management systems and editing software.
Desirable:
- Previous experience in sub-editing for online publications.
- Familiarity with the North East region and its cultural context.
