Judge flees as malnourished minors detained over #EndBadGovernance protest collapse in court (Video)

Several minors detained since August for participating in #EndBadGovernance protests fainted in the Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday, exposing alleged mistreatment during their prolonged detention.

Witnesses reported that the incident led to the presiding judge leaving the courtroom as the young detainees, appearing severely malnourished, slumped one after another.

Sources revealed the minors had been denied sufficient food, with some going days without proper nutrition. Images circulating on social media showed the distressing scenes, as lawyers and others in attendance rushed to aid the detainees lying on the courtroom floor.

Detained under an ex-parte order by Justice Emeka Nwite, the minors were held for 60 days to allow police investigations into allegations of conspiring to destabilise the government.

The accusations stemmed from protests against rising insecurity and economic hardship under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

In response, the Network of Abuja Left Groups has demanded the immediate release of the detainees, including 32 minors, condemning the government’s treatment of peaceful protesters and urging Nigerians not to be silenced by harsh suppression tactics.
