Kanem Press digital hub hold another capacity building in Northeast

Kanempress Digital Hub, hold another Two day training on Monday 21st and Tuesday 22nd November 2022, with a theme: FOCUSING ON SUB-NATIONAL ISSUES IN EDUCATION, HEALTH AND WASH CHALLENGES WITHIN IDP CAMPS AND HOST COMMUNITIES OF YOBE AND BORNO STATES.

Kanempress is a media related non – governmental organization whose aim is to improve the living conditions of the vulnerable women, youth and children, promotion of welfare activities aimed at the alleviation of human suffering and overall amelioration of society especially for the poor, helpless and weak.

The training promotes the current WASH services provided to IDPs, identifying the needs and gaps in water, sanitation and hygiene services with priorities to those living in camps or villages camps and orient their strategy response through evidence based in decision making.

Kanempress under the able leadership of it’s President/Founder Zannah Ibrahim Mustapha has successfully concluded the two days training in Borno State where various facilitators talks extensively.

Zanna Mustapha said, since the Inception of the organization it has conducted four different workshop training in the North Eastern part of Borno and Yobe States respectively.

It was aimed at exploiting issues hindering their returnee communities which include healthcare services and Education as well as wash Challenges.

Zanna Mustapha, had while encouraging  Youth’s, to ensure synergy in displaying their talents assured to establish Kanem press office with a view to train multitude young, talented individual journalist to report challenges in their immediate environments.

A resource person and senior lecturer, Department of Education University of Maiduguri Dr. Baba Kura Mamman Gadai enjoined participants to report challenges petaining  accessibility and enrollment of children in Education within the lake Chad region.

Other resource person Dr. Grema kyari, presented paper on retention in Education sector and challenges of retention towards sustainability.

Equally, Dr. Gare Alhaji who presented paper on WASH challenges said, it is the responsibility of all and sundry to ensure provision of  portable water and sanitation as well as challenges involved.

Aisha Isa Othman, from Borno State, primary health care development agency, who gave an overview of the Lakechad Region, pre-insurgency and the challenges of the post insurgency on the health needs of vulnerable population and the way forward.

Dr Yahaya Tijani, Department of Biochemistry/HR manager at Swift Relief Foundation focuses, on common health problems among the IDPs are mainly due to diminished proper structured health system, portable drinking water, relevant information transmission using proper communication channels, organized shelter and implementation of organizational and government policies with regards to protection.

Also Special Assistant to Borno State Governor and PA to Her Excellency Borno State first lady, in her paper dwelled thoroughly on importance of portable water to human life. She commended the effort Borno State and international donors.

And some of the participants said they learned on how to report issues in there immediate environments stressing that they would always ensure to focus on positive sides to understand real challenges, cause and effect of problem of the people.

On behalf of the participants, Director information Borno State House of Assembly Aji Modu thanked the kanem press Digital hub and partners for the opportunity and knowledge gained as well as assured to use them for the betterment of themselves and the society.
