Kano State Elections: Sa’adatu Yushau Tudunwada among 44 new LG Chairmen

The Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC) has presented Certificates of Return to the winners of Saturday’s local government elections.

KANSIEC chairman, Professor Sani Malumfashi, presented the certificates to the 44 elected council chairmen.

Among those elected is a young woman, Sa’adatu Yushau Tudunwada, who has been appointed Chairperson of Tudunwada LGA.

“The issuance of today’s Certificates of Return marks the conclusion of our mandate, which we have carried out diligently and in accordance with the Constitution and the laws of the land,” the KANSIEC chairman stated.

In an interview with reporters, Tudunwada promised to ensure equity for all residents of her local government area, regardless of their party affiliation.

The newly elected Chairman of Fagge LGA, Salisu Masu, expressed concern over revenue shortages due to leakages.

“I will do all I can to block these leakages and improve revenue generation because, from the information I’m receiving, our Federal Government subvention is not even enough to pay salaries without the state government’s support,” he said.
