Some non-governmental organisations in Kano were embarrassed when they went round some secondary schools in the state and met students writing NECO exams on mats while some sat on blocks.
Recently, the Ganduje administration announced that it had paid NECO fees for all pupils in Kano that cannot do so because they are from poor families but this was later discovered to be untrue as most of the students had to pay the NECO exam fee themselves.

Similarly, reports made available to the press and some NGOs in Kano learnt that some schools in the state had no chairs as students used to come from their houses with mats or blocks to will use sit on during exams.
This is development is coming after the state has enjoyed free education at all levels during the immediate past administration of Kwankwaso. Not only that, about 5,000 indigenes of the state are about to become lawyers, pilots, doctors, nurses and other disciplines, and all of them were sponsored to foreign universities under the Kwankwaso free education program which has since been suspended by the Ganduje administration.
