Keke driver abducts 5-year-old girl on her way from Islamiyya in Kano

A 5-year-old girl, Hanifa Abubakar was abducted yesterday evening on her way from Islamiyya School.
The girl, who is a resident in the Kawaji quarters of Kano was said to have been abducted by a Keke driver on her way back home.
According to an eyewitness, the little girl and other kids were given a lift by the Keke-Napep operator on their way from school, but the driver suddenly pushed out the other children and speed off with the 5-year-old girl.
The remaining children promptly reported the incident to Hanifa’s family, where the police were later notified.
Kano police have already launched an investigation into the matter, while the ward heads mobilised an active search party for the girl.
Cases of abduction and rape have been on the rise in Kano metropolis, with parents taking more proactive majors to protect their children from criminals, while Kano hisbah puts more effort into eliminating child abduction in the state.
