Kidnappers threaten to kill abducted pregnant woman, other Jehovah’s Witnesses

Story from Hafsat Aleeyu MUYE

Kidnappers of pregnant woman abducted alongside eight other Jehovah’s Witnesses have threatened to kill two of the abductees and reveal the location of their corpses if ransom is not paid on Wednesday, 21st February 2024.

Neptune Prime reports that nine Jehovah’s Witnesses, who were on their way to Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, to attend an annual gathering known as Circuit Assembly were abducted on Kabba – Lokoja Road last Saturday, February 17, 2024.

The kidnappers have demanded N30 million ransom but later reduced it to N2.6 million after negotiation.

Among the victims are two women, four men and two female students. They had taken off to the Kingdom Hall at Kabba Saturday morning in the hope of joining their brothers and sisters from other parts of the state for the spiritual banquet when the attack occurred.

Mr. Elupo Eliazer, husband to the abducted pregnant woman, said the kidnappers have made contact with the family with their demands.

He said, “They called to demand first for N30 million but later reduced it to N2.6 million after negotiation.

“My wife and I were travelling to attend our church convention scheduled for Lokoja, but I decided to follow a different vehicle as the Toyota bus could not contain all of us, else I would have been in the car with her.”

Eliazer, who is a Person with Disability, said the vehicle his wife travelled with was ahead of the one he was in, and all the occupants of the bus were already marched into the bush before the vehicle he boarded got to the spot.

He said the kidnappers had warned them not to inform or involve the police.

When contacted by newsmen, the Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, William Aya, promised to get more information and release a statement on the incident.
