Kobe Bryant’s locker fetches $2.9 million at Sotheby’s auction
The locker used by Kobe Bryant for much of his illustrious NBA career has sold for $2.9 million at a Sotheby’s auction in New York. The locker, which Bryant used while playing for the Los Angeles Lakers, nearly doubled its estimated value of $1.5 million.
Bryant, an 18-time NBA All-Star, was tragically killed in a helicopter crash in 2020 at the age of 41. He spent his entire NBA career with the Lakers from 1996 to 2016.
The locker was saved from being discarded in 2018 during Staples Centre renovations by a maintenance worker and later acquired by an American collector.
Brahm Wachter, Sotheby’s head of modern collectables, highlighted the sale as a testament to Bryant’s lasting legacy and the unique value of the item.

The auction also included memorabilia from other sports legends, including Michael Jordan and Reggie Jackson, and contemporary stars like Rafael Nadal and Stephen Curry.
