The Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has passed the Anti Corruption Agency Bill, among other bills at the Executive Chambers of the Kogi State Government House.

In his address following the enactment of the bills, Governor Ododo praised the State House of Assembly for their patriotism and commitment, describing the Bills as “citizen-centered legislation”.

According to the Governor, the newly approved Anti Corruption Agency Law will enhance the state’s ability to prevent corruption, investigate and prosecute corruption cases successfully.

“We have empowered the agency with legal authority to combat corruption effectively. This signifies my administration’s resolve to combat corrupt practices and eliminate corruption completely.

“Those who support development will reject corruption. We will not tolerate corrupt behaviours. I will provide full backing to the agency to carry out their responsibilities effectively,” he stated.

Ododo extended his gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for enabling states to generate, transmit, and distribute electricity, which he believes will help address the power crisis in the country once and for all.

“The President has identified a lasting solution to the power crisis in Nigeria. Opening up the sector will expand operations and increase the power supply to the national grid.

“As a state, we are prepared to take advantage of this opportunity created by the bold policies of the President, and I can guarantee that Kogi is committed to playing a significant role in resolving the power issue,” Ododo said.

The Governor highlighted that the Kogi State Scholarship Law aims to assist underprivileged students in achieving their educational goals, emphasising that his administration will continue to prioritise education.

“We have consistently prioritised education because we believe education is the cornerstone of development. As a former student, I understand the challenges of acquiring an education.

“Serving in this position has allowed me to support our students to achieve academic success.

“I also want to congratulate Nigerians on the Students Loan Scheme initiated by the President. We have a visionary President who is dedicated to protecting the less privileged. With him at the helm, our country is destined for prosperity,” he added.

Earlier, the Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Honourable Aliyu Umar Yusuf, mentioned that the Assembly conducted a thorough review and consulted experts to ensure that the laws would withstand the test of time once enacted.

He affirmed that the State House of Assembly is committed to enacting purposeful legislation for the advancement of the state.

The event was attended by members of the State House of Assembly and other high-ranking government officials.
