Lagos Fire Service battle inferno at Radio Nigeria

The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service has confirmed that it is currently responding to a fire at the Radio Nigeria building, located at Plot No. 35, Ikoyi Road, Ikoyi, Lagos.

In a statement issued on Wednesday night, signed by Director Margaret Adeseye, the agency stated that it was alerted to the fire at approximately 5:30 p.m.

Firefighters from the Dolphin and Ebute Elefun Fire Stations were the first to arrive on the scene, where they encountered a fully engulfed fire, fueled by the materials in the studio section.

Adeseye reassured the public that through coordinated efforts with the Federal Fire Service, other emergency responders, and the Nigerian Police, the fire has been brought under control and confined to the studio section of the one-storey, U-shaped building where it started.

While the cause of the fire remains under investigation, there have been no reported casualties. Firefighting crews are continuing to dampen the remaining embers.

The Director concluded by stating that updates will be provided as necessary.
