Lagos inspector attacked by motorcyclists loses life

The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the unfortunate passing of an inspector attached to the Iponri Division.

The inspector succumbed to injuries sustained during an attack by individuals believed to be commercial motorcyclists.

Benjamin Hundeyin, a superintendent of police and the command’s spokesperson, verified the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria.

The inspector, whose name has not been disclosed, was one of the officers assaulted at Ijora Olopa by the attackers on Thursday.

Tragically, the officer breathed his last at an undisclosed hospital on Friday. He had been rushed there on Thursday following the assault.

Hundeyin explained that the officers were in the area to enforce the Okada restriction law imposed by the Lagos State government when the assailants launched the attack.

As of Friday evening, no arrests had been made.

Hundeyin conveyed that the police were actively pursuing those responsible for the attack.
