Lagos Mosque Collapse: 11-year-old confirmed dead, rescue efforts ongoing

The corpse of an 11-year-old girl has been recovered by emergency responders at the scene of a mosque collapse in the Papa Ajao area of Lagos State on Sunday.

State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident while responding to an inquiry about the ongoing rescue operation.

He said, “The rescue operation is ongoing, but as I speak with you, the corpse of an 11-year-old girl has been recovered. The operation is still ongoing.”

According to reports, people were inside the mosque for afternoon prayers when it suddenly caved in. While some escaped, others were trapped under the rubble.

Alarmed by the incident, locals attempted to rescue the trapped victims and informed emergency responders, including the police, who quickly arrived at the scene to commence rescue operations.
