A suspected ritualist believed to be a lunatic was reportedly said to have beheaded six people, and made away with their heads to an unknown destination, leaving their decomposing bodies in a thick forest in Orodo Community, Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo state, suspected to be his hideout.
Reliable sources from Ahamba – Orodo village, scene of the incident, told journalists that the fugitive lunatic whose name is not yet known to them is not an indigene of the community but a roaming mad man who was last seen at the market square a few months ago.
Displaying his picture which was taken by some concerned indigenes of the community to alert the mad man’s relatives for his possible evacuation out of the community, the traditional ruler of the community, His Royal Highness, Eze Mike Amah informed that the slain victims of the lunatic are not only indigenes of the community but other citizens of the state, resident in the Orodo community.
The Royal Father added that the gory incident of beheading people by the randy ritualist- occurred in a space of two days in July 2021, even as he hinted that the community has intensified the search for the lunatic, who is at large, having earlier been declared wanted by police authorities in Imo state.
Also describing as ‘sacrilege’ the beheading of residents of the area, the monarch appealed to relevant security agencies in the state to take proactive measures in apprehending the culprit, with the view to smashing the suspected human ritual coven, where he dumps the heads of slain victims and for further investigations into the ugly incident in the area.
As at the time of filing this report, residents of the community were in a state of panic and fear of the unknown, as a massive search for the mad man continues in the state.
