By Junaid Jibril Maiva, Maiduguri.
It was a bad Monday Morning for residents of London Chiki, in Maiduguri, who woke up unscheduled as a result of bomb blast in the area.
The blast which left at least twelve dead while several others injured created a scene as some residents of the area threw stones at the officials of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA).
An eye witness, Babagana Taha Ngala, observed that people are suspicious of Non-Governmental Organisations’ relationship with insurgents. ‘How can you support Boko Haram, give them food, shelter and drugs and expect us to fold our arms and look at them?’, he said.
Another resident, Goni Zanna, disclosed that the mob mistook SEMA officials for Non-Governmental Organisations.
It took the effort of personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to bring the situation under control.
It was reported that the suicide bomber, a young girl of about thirteen, was seen roaming in the area since last night and blew her explosives when some men accosted her, demanding what she was doing early in the morning.
This made her explode her device in a nearby mosque, killing herself and twelve others injuring sixteen others.
in a related development, NEPTUNE Prime gathered that about four other persons were killed in a separate attack in the town. This was confirmed by Danbatta Bello, the spokesman of the Civillian-JTF.
He said the mosque attack took place at Zannari street along Maiduguri-Dikwa road.
