Man arrested for stealing ₦20m worth of wigs
A man identified as Austine and his accomplices stole wigs valued at ₦20 million from a moving truck on the CMS-Marina Bridge in Lagos.
Lagos State Police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin revealed details of the heist in a statement on Thursday.
Hundeyin said the heist occurred on April 25, when Austine and his gang targeted a truck carrying a large sack filled with assorted human hair extensions.
Hundeyin said the incident took place without the driver’s knowledge as the truck passed through the CMS-Marina Bridge.
He noted that Austine was later apprehended in the Marina car park under the bridge by police after a tip-off.
To evade arrest, Benjamin said Austine jumped from the bridge into the car park and sustained injuries in the process.
“He was found in possession of the stolen items and has been taken to a hospital for proper medical attention under close police watch,” Benjamin said.
