Man Utd ‘Much Better’ than league table shows, says Liverpool’s Slot
Liverpool manager Arne Slot has dismissed suggestions that Manchester United are struggling and says the team is “much, much better” than their current position in the Premier League suggests.
Ahead of their upcoming clash with United on Sunday, Slot warned that his team should not underestimate their fierce rivals, who are currently 14th in the table.
United’s recent poor form, which has seen them lose five out of their last six league games under new manager Ruben Amorim, has left them in a precarious position. Despite this, Slot, in his first season managing in England, believes that United’s quality is far better than the table reflects.
“No, of course, I’m not going to plan to rest any player because it’s a big game,” Slot said in a pre-match press conference. “I think they have much better players in my opinion than maybe the league table shows at the moment.”
Slot acknowledged that Amorim’s transition to Manchester United might take some time but remains confident that United will improve. “It’s going to take a while maybe for Ruben Amorim to bring this out of the players… but they will definitely go up,” he added.
The Dutch manager also sympathised with his counterpart at Old Trafford, pointing out the pressure that all managers face. “Every manager sympathises with every other manager because we all know how much pressure this job brings,” Slot said. “That’s not different for him than for me, or for any other manager.”

Slot was also asked about the future of Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold, who has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid. Slot confirmed that Alexander-Arnold, who is out of contract at the end of the season, would remain at Liverpool for now and would play in the upcoming match.
“Hopefully he brings the same performances as he brought in for the last half-year,” Slot said. “I think everybody saw how great a first half of the season he had, how much he is here, how much he wants to win here.”
