Manchester United continued their winning run in pre-season with a penalty shootout victory over Real Madrid in Santa Clara.
Jesse Lingard fired United ahead during the first half at the Levi’s Stadium after superb work from Anthony Martial on the left wing.
Victor Lindelof’s foul on Theo Hernandez allowed Casemiro to level the scores from the spot after the break.
But it was United who came out on top in a poor shootout, winning 2-1 after five penalties apiece.

Mourinho speaks

Jose has been speaking to the media after United’s win.
On Anthony Martial, he said: “Obviously we want more consistency in his talent. I think today was positive for him, that’s why I left him on for 90 minutes, he was enjoying trying things and imp in these matches to try things, which he did so I think it’s goos for Anthony and his confidence.”
On Ander Herrera, who was replaced just six minutes after being introduced at half-time, he said: “At least very painful because for Ander to come out it must be very painful. I also always say to the players, no risk in friendlies. If you feel something, or if you feel something is coming, get out, because the result is not important.”
