Marriage not, over Sarah Palin insists

In a recent interview, Sarah Palin revealed that she found out about her husband’s divorce plans in an email from his lawyer.

The former governor of Alaska and vice presidential candidate told James Dobsin, founder of the Family Talk Christian Ministry, that she received an email from Todd Palin’s attorney in June.

Todd Palin, 55 year old, filed for divorce on his birthday in September, shortly after the couple’s 31st wedding anniversary.

“I thought I got shot,” she told Dobson of the filing.

The interview with Dobson was released Tuesday, but had been previously conducted.

Sarah Palin, also 55, told Dobson that she and her husband are going through counseling and that their marriage isn’t “over, over.” She complained that lawyers are “getting rich” off them.

She added that God does not want families to split up.

“And to me, in a general sense, marriage is so extremely important as foundation of our nation,” she told Dobson. “It helps make America that much greater, it’s that security of family, and I’m not to the point of wanting mine to be split.”

Sarah Palin, the 2008 Republican vice-presidential nominee, resigned as governor of Alaska the following year. The Palins have five children, including 11-year-old Trig. The other four are adults.
