Nationwide Protest: Omoyele Sowore appeals to supporters, well-meaning Nigerians to come out en-mass

Story from Saleh INUWA, Kano

The convener of the nationwide demonstration to be staged throughout the country on June 12, Mr Omoyele Sowore has sent out a very strong appeal to his supporters and other well-meaning Nigerians to come out en-mass to prove that Nigerians have no confidence in the Buhari-led administration.

Omoyele Sowore, who contested for presidency in 2015 and the publisher of the popular online newspaper, Sahara Reporters, explained that he is expecting millions of Nigerians to turn out for the protest. According to him, this is to intimidate any security arrangement that may be put in place since they cannot kill all those that will come out and protest against this government.

The media guru who has been a thorn in the flesh to the Buhari administration has confronted the government on many occasions and wants Nigerians to use this opportunity and come out in mass for all to see that Nigerians are not happy with the Buhari-led government because it has failed in providing security for the ordinary populace, the basic responsibility of any leader.

Omoyele Sowore, who participated in a demonstration two weeks ago in Abuja and was allegedly shot on the hips by a security agent identifying to be a police officer, has indicated that no matter what, the June 12 protest will go on. This is to prove to the international community that Nigerians are not enjoying a good government or dividends of democracy.

Omoyele Sowore has clashed with security agencies and been detained severally that it was a miracle that he even secured bail from the judiciary. However, instead of going underground, he is threatening to lead more protests including the one coming up tomorrow in strategic states, like Kaduna, Abuja, Lagos, Damaturu, Zaria, Kano, and other states that were not mentioned by the convener of the protest.
