NDLEA nabs drug courier while supplying injections to bandits

A 22-year-old drug courier, identified as Muhammad Mohammed, has been arrested by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) while attempting to transport a large quantity of illicit pharmaceutical substances to suspected bandits in Katsina State.
According to a statement released by NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, the suspect was apprehended on Sunday, April 13, by officers patrolling the Bichi–Kano road.

Mohammed was found in possession of 277 ampoules of pentazocine injection, a restricted opioid often misused for its sedative and painkilling effects.
In a desperate attempt to avoid detection, he had taped the ampoules to his thigh and private area using cello tape.
Preliminary investigations suggest the drugs were intended for criminal elements operating in the North West, particularly in Katsina, where armed bandits continue to pose a serious security threat.
The NDLEA said the arrest is part of its intensified nationwide crackdown on the trafficking of controlled substances, which are frequently used by insurgents, kidnappers, and other violent groups.
The suspect is currently in custody and is expected to face prosecution upon the conclusion of investigations.
