Yobe government cautions against security laxity as Ramadan begins

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has convened a security meeting on Wednesday to ensure a peaceful atmosphere for citizens observing Ramadan night prayers.

Governor Buni, represented by Deputy Governor Alhaji Idi Barde Gubana, acknowledged the efforts of security agencies in maintaining stability.

The meeting focused on strengthening security across Local Government Areas and the state capital during the Holy Month of Ramadan, particularly with the expected increase in movement for night prayers.

The governor urged residents not to take peace for granted, warning that miscreants might take advantage of the period.

He reassured citizens that the state’s current peace would be sustained.

Addressing journalists after deliberations, the Special Adviser on Security, Brigadier General Dahiru Abdulsalam (Rtd), appealed to the public to support security agencies with relevant and timely information.

He specifically lamented illegal mining in the Gulani axis of the Gulani Local Government Area, stating that security forces are handling the situation.

Present at the meeting were heads of the military, police, DSS, NSCDC, NDLEA, Immigration, and FRSC.
