NGO inspects projects in Yobe, hails Gov. Buni for remarkable development

A Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) under the aegis of “Media and Disability Care Initiative (MEDCI)” has commended the Yobe State Government for embarking on critical road construction projects across the state, particularly in rural communities.
The Executive Director of MEDCI, Mr Rajab Mohammed Isma’il, made the commendation on Saturday while leading a media team on an inspection tour of some completed and ongoing road construction projects executed by the state government under Governor Mai Mala Buni.
The projects visited included the 2.5-kilometre Potiskum-Ngojin road and the 5-kilometre Fadawa-Daya road, both undertaken through the state Ministry of Works.
He described the projects as a testament to the government’s commitment to rural development, inclusivity and improved mobility for all, especially persons with disabilities and rural dwellers.

Also speaking during the visit, Malam Bulama Haruna, a community leader in Ngojin, expressed gratitude to Governor Buni for constructing the 2.5km road, describing it as a life-changing intervention.
“Before now, we only saw such projects happening in other places. During the rainy season, movement in and out of our community was almost impossible,” Haruna said.
A resident of Ngojin, Abdullahi Mohammed, said the project was one of the best things to happen to the community in a century.
“The road has improved accessibility, eased transportation of farm produce and patients. Our main occupation is farming, and now we can easily access markets,” he said.

In Daya community, which also benefited from the 5km Fadawa-Daya road, Malam Idi Muhammed Madaki expressed appreciation to the governor for delivering on a long-standing need of the people.
“We have been waiting for this road since the creation of the state. We thank Governor Buni and the Commissioner for Works for making it a reality,” he said.
Engineer Saleh Mustapha, a town engineer from the Damaturu Area Office and the resident engineer for the 5km Fadawa-Daya project, assured that the road would be completed within the stipulated timeframe and to the required standard.
