Determined to amplify the voice of children in Yobe State, a Non-Governmental Organization, Save the Children (SCI), has revealed plans to establish a Media working group in the state.

Mr Kunle Olawoyin, the SCI Media and Communication Manager disclosed this at a media engagement on Thursday in Damaturu.

According to him, the group will amplify the voice of the children, influence social and behaviour change through awareness activities, public mobilization of children, set an agenda, influence duty bearers, empower right holders and inspire people.

“We understand the importance of Media in creating awareness about our programmes and projects across the country.

“We know that media is in the best position to create that necessary visibility and awareness about what we are doing, not only in Yobe but in the country at large.”, Olawoyin added.

On the expectations of the group, the Journalists would have in-depth discussions, membership and elect/selecting the leadership of the working group for proper coordination.

The Communication Manager further disclosed that the role of the media partnership in Save the Children are enormous with basics “because we want to shape opinions, behaviours, practices and attitudes because we want to set an agenda, because we want to boost our visibility and brand”

Others are ”because we want to be transparent and accountable to children, partners, donors and staff. We want to inspire and mobilize people around our cause, we want to correct misconceptions about our organization and we want to raise more funds in order to reach every child.”
