Niger-Delta women professionals urge perpetrators of killings in Okuama to surrender

The Niger-Delta Women Professionals are calling on the individuals responsible for the deadly attack on soldiers from the 181 Amphibious Division in Okuama community, Delta, to surrender themselves to military authorities promptly.

Their statement, issued by the President and General Secretary of the group, Mrs. Augusta Wariboko and Dr. Agnes Tari, respectively, expressed solidarity with the Armed Forces of Nigeria and emphasized the urgent need to restore peace within the strife-torn communities.

The group implored the residents of Okuama and its environs to cooperate with security agencies by providing crucial information that could lead to the apprehension of the perpetrators. They condemned the heinous act, recognising the sacrifices made by the Armed Forces of Nigeria and warning against actions that could destabilise peace in the region.

Additionally, they commended the military’s efforts in promoting peaceful coexistence through non-kinetic approaches and reiterated their unwavering support for ongoing endeavors to capture both the leaders and members responsible for the attack.

The group urged residents to pass on useful information to security agencies and emphasized their opposition to the actions of the militant group, stating that such conduct does not represent the people of the Niger-Delta region.

“We are totally in support of what Gen. Musa and his troops are doing, especially in tackling oil theft,” they added.
