EFCC arraigns man who scammed a lady ₦603m Promising her a job at NNPC
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has brought before a Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Maitama a man accused of collecting more than ₦603 million from a woman under the guise of securing her appointment as Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited.
The defendant, Gidado Ibrahim, was docked alongside Halimat Adenike Tejusho, who is currently at large. They face an amended six-count charge bordering on obtaining by false pretence and forgery.
According to the anti-graft agency, the defendants allegedly received ₦603.4 million from Oluseye Yomi-Sholoye between August and October 2024, claiming they could influence her emergence as head of the national oil company.
Part of the charge states that the suspects knew the promise was false but went ahead to collect the money, an offence punishable under the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006.

Ibrahim was also accused of presenting as genuine a purported official document bearing the heading: “Presidential Villa State House, Office of the National Security Adviser,” which investigators said was forged.
When the charges were read in court, Ibrahim pleaded not guilty.
Following his plea, prosecution counsel Y. Tarfa asked the court to fix a date for trial and requested that the defendant be remanded in a correctional facility.
However, defence lawyer B. B. Alhaji urged the court to allow his client remain in EFCC custody, citing concerns about his health, pending the determination of a bail application.

Justice H. Muazu adjourned the matter to February 17, 2026, for hearing of the bail request. The judge subsequently ordered that Ibrahim be remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre pending further proceedings, while efforts continue to apprehend the second defendant still at large.
