Nigeria Customs spokesman, CSC Maiwada, visits Neptune Prime to seek media collaboration

The National Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), CSC Abdullahi Aliyu Maiwada, has paid a courtesy visit to the office of Neptune Network Nigeria Limited, publishers of Neptune Prime online newspaper, in Abuja.

Speaking to the Publisher and Chief Executive Officer of the media company, Dr Hassan Gimba, Maiwada said the visit is to establish a relationship between the NCS and Neptune Prime.

He said the maiden edition of his media rounds as the National Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Customs Service aims to strengthen the relationship between the agency and media organisations in the country.

Maiwada said the media is an essential tool for democracy and nation-building while the NCS is responsible for the implementation of government policies which affect the masses, hence the need for partnership.

The Customs PRO urged Nigerian media houses to not only focus on their primary function of disseminating information but also have an obligation to promote citizens’ fundamental rights and speak truth to power.

Responding, Dr Gimba thanked Abdullahi Aliyu Maiwada for the visit and praised his keen interest to bridge the communication gap between government agencies and the media in Nigeria.

He assured him of Neptune Prime’s cooperation in highlighting the activities of the NCS for the benefit of the masses.

Dr Gimba also presented copies of his book, The Arbiter, to CSC Maiwada.

Neptune Prime reports that the Comptroller-General of Customs Col. Hameed Ibrahim Ali (Rtd) CFR approved the appointment of CSC Abdullahi Aliyu Maiwada as the National Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Customs Service.

Maiwada is to take over from Comptroller Timi Bomodi who has since been redeployed to Kiri-Kiri Lighter Terminal (KLT) Area Command as the Customs Area Controller.
