Nigerian Army solicits useful intel from citizens as DSS arrest terrorists in Abuja estate

Following the raid and arrest of suspected terrorists in Trademore Estate Abuja by the Department of State Services (DSS), authorities of the Nigerian Army have released emergency numbers soliciting intel from citizens.

In an interview with TheCable on Friday. Peter Afunanya, DSS spokesperson, confirmed the attack and clarified that the operation was not done in collaboration with soldiers from the United States (US).

Stepping up to the situation, the Army revealed some emergency numbers on its verified Twitter handle and urged members of the general public to report any information that will aid the military in combating insecurity.

The announcement indicates various channels through which individuals with useful information could reach the Nigerian Army.

Neptune Prime reports that the US and the United Kingdom (UK) recently issued travel advisories warning their citizens living in Nigeria about the possibility of terror attacks in the FCT.

On Sunday, the US embassy said there is an elevated risk of terror attacks in the FCT and warned against unnecessary travel.

Days later, the US state department ordered the evacuation of the family members of its employees in Abuja.

The foreign nations warned that the attackers may target government buildings, places of worship, and crowded places.
