Nigerian policewoman Juliet Chukwu wins ‘Bantamweight Championship’ in South Africa
The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has celebrated one of its own, Corporal Juliet Chukwu, for clinching the Bantamweight Championship title at the Extreme Fighting Championship (EFC119) in Johannesburg, South Africa.
In a statement issued on Saturday by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the victory was described as a significant milestone for both Chukwu and the NPF. It showcases the rising global prowess of Nigerian athletes and underscores the Force’s dedication to excellence in all spheres, including sports.
The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, expressed immense pride in Chukwu’s record-breaking performance. He hailed the victory as a momentous achievement and reiterated the NPF’s commitment to supporting its officers in their sporting pursuits.
“This remarkable achievement highlights the growing prowess of Nigerian athletes on the global stage and reinforces the Force’s commitment to excellence in all areas of sports,” the statement read.

Officially introducing MMA to the Force through the establishment of the Nigeria Police MMA Association.

“The Nigeria Police Force remains committed to organisational development and success, with several programs and initiatives in place to achieve these goals, even in sports,” the statement added.
The IGP reaffirmed the Force’s resolve to continue supporting Chukwu and other talented officers in their journey to global recognition. He expressed optimism about achieving even more honours in various disciplines, emphasising the role of sports in strengthening the Force’s image and fostering unity.
