Nigeria’s Independence Day: FGN declares Oct 2 as public holiday

The Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) has declared Monday, October 2, 2023, as a public holiday to mark Nigeria’s 63rd Independence anniversary.

The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Oluwatoyin Akinlade, confirmed that the declaration was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal government in Abuja.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo committed the government’s efforts towards tackling the socioeconomic and security challenges bedevilling the country.

She emphasized that these problems are not peculiar to Nigeria, and the government is resolved to confront them with all available might.

Nigeria’s eminent position in the committee of nations and the potential greatness of the country can only be achievable with unity and concerted efforts by all Nigerians.
